Memorial Day Weekend! A time to relax and enjoy a long weekend. A great time to practice gratitude for those serving our country. A moment to pause and reflect.

AND… I’m suddenly aware that I feel a need to rush into Tuesday and the week. Already stressing about my never-ending to-do list! The need to make up for the long holiday weekend.

Stepping back and taking a few grounding breaths, I remembered a recent insight. The power of prioritizing being grounded for high performance. Grounded means being calm, confident, and aligning with your values.

As a high achiever, it’s hard not to fall into the trap of achievement = success. The frenetic belief that you need to do more to feel more successful.

Coming from a place of being grounded allows you to situate and stabilize your sense of passion, performance, and productivity. As a result, your striving and ambition become less hectic, less stressful, more focused, sustainable, and fulfilling.

How will you approach the coming holiday week? Take a deep breath. Feel your feet on the floor. Ground yourself, and enjoy the long weekend feeling refreshed to jump in on Tuesday.

Try it out. You’ll still accomplish your goals. But you’ll also enjoy the ride more. And isn’t that what it’s all about?
